Desmond Child Rocks the Parthenon Film Premiere in Greece

The power of rock and the majesty of ancient history converge this week as the 28th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival hosts the world premiere of Desmond Child Rocks the Parthenon.

The documentary, directed by award-winning filmmaker Heather Winters, captures the historic 2022 benefit concert held at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Among the glittering lineup of legends featured in the film is our very own Bonnie Tyler, whose electrifying performance helped illuminate the night beneath the Acropolis.

The film is more than just a concert doc; it chronicles a star-studded movement to raise global awareness for the repatriation of the Parthenon Sculptures (The “Elgin Marbles”) from the British Museum to Greece.

On 27 June 2022, Bonnie took to the ancient stage alongside icons like Alice Cooper, Rita Wilson, and The Rasmus. Accompanied by legendary songwriter Desmond Child on piano, Bonnie performed a trio of their most powerful collaborations, including the fan-favourite “If You Were a Woman (And I Was a Man)”, the anthemic “Stronger Than a Man”, and another rock classic, “Hide Your Heart”.

Director Heather Winters, a two-time Sundance winner (known for Super Size Me and Anywhere, U.S.A.), brought her 25 years of expertise to capture the essence of the event.

“It was an honour to direct and produce this film about one of the greatest living music legends of our time, and work with these amazing rock stars,” said Winters.

The film makes its global debut on 13 March 2026, during the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival. The screening will feature a Q&A session with Desmond Child, Heather Winters and Phoebus.

The festival itself is a massive celebration of cinema, featuring 252 films and appearances by international stars, including Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche.

Following its festival run, fans around the world can look forward to seeing the project on a larger scale.
