Bonnie Visits Wales Air Ambulance Charity
Bonnie recently returned to the headquarters of the Wales Air Ambulance Charity in Dafen, Llanelli, to celebrate a major milestone: the charity’s 25th anniversary.
Since its launch, the service has completed more than 56,000 missions, providing vital, hospital-standard treatments to patients across the length and breadth of Wales. During her visit, Bonnie praised the life-saving work of the crews and the generosity of the Welsh public who keep the service running.
This visit was a nostalgic one for Bonnie. She first visited the Dafen base approximately ten years ago alongside the then Prince of Wales (now King Charles III) in her role as a Prince’s Trust Ambassador. Bonnie also has a history of supporting the charity dating back to 2008, when she attended a major appeal event in Swansea.
“It’s wonderful to return and see how things have evolved since my last visit,” Bonnie remarked. “I got to meet some of the patients who had benefited from the service. This base visit has reminded me how important this service is.”
During her time at the headquarters, Bonnie met with crew members Matt, Henry, and Kieran, who had already completed two emergency missions before she even arrived.

Bonnie climbed into the helicopter to see the specialised equipment firsthand. “I was surprised to see how much they can squeeze in such a little area,” she said. “They are like a mini emergency department which can travel by air or road.”
The Wales Air Ambulance is a consultant-led service, meaning it can deliver advanced critical care—including anaesthesia and blood transfusions—directly at the scene of an incident.
To keep its helicopters in the sky and rapid response vehicles on the road, the Charity must raise £13 million every year.

Emma Grant, Public Affairs Lead for the Wales Air Ambulance, said:
“Bonnie Tyler is one of Wales’ cultural icons, and we are grateful for her championing our Charity. Like Bonnie, Wales Air Ambulance is a Welsh success story. We rely on our supporters to enable us to continue to save lives.”
Bonnie echoed this sentiment, urging fans and the public to continue their support:
“The fundraisers are outstanding; they help raise millions each year. I hope that I never need the air ambulance, but isn’t it great to know that it is there if I do! Long may it continue to save lives.”
