Watch a Previously Unseen Bonnie Tyler Music Video
On 9 April 2022, the Australian TV show ‘rage‘ premiered the music video for “I Believe in Your Sweet Love” as part of their weekly oldies playlist, “The Vault”. The video has been sitting in the archive for 43 years!
Written by Ronnie Scott and Steve Wolfe, the single came out in November 1979. It reached no. 27 on the Canadian RPM Adult Contemporary chart and no. 138 on Record World‘s US Top 200 singles chart. Check out Bonnie’s box set The RCA Years which features the single version, an extended “full version” and Bonnie’s re-recording for her album Goodbye to the Island.
The video was filmed on the grounds of the Palace House in Beaulieu, a rural village near the city of Southampton on the southern coast of England. It features a 1909 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost from the nearby National Motor Museum, and a cameo by – or somebody dressed up as – Edward Douglas-Scott-Montagu, the third Baron Montagu of Beaulieu.
The single didn’t match the international success of “It’s a Heartache”, but critics loved it.
“I’m a sucker for anything with a jangling guitar,” said Daniela Soava in Record Mirror. “It sounds like the intro to a spaghetti western from the cowboy’s side. I bet this would sound great cruising down the dust track on your trusty steed”.
We are now looking at releasing the video on Bonnie’s official YouTube channel.
